A featherweight matchup between Darren Elkins and Lucas Martins is set to take place at UFC 179 later this year.

UFC officials announced the bout on Monday on the Brazillian UFC website, UFC.com.br.

Elkins (17-4) is coming off of a decision loss to Jeremy Stephens last January at UFC on FOX 10.  Before that, he got back on track with a win over Hatsu Hioki last August, as he was coming off a loss to #1 featherweight contender Chad Mendes in April of 2013.

Martins (15-1) is coming off of a knockout victory over Alex White at UFC Fight Night 45 in July.  He’s currently riding a 3 fight winning streak, and was given his first professional loss almost two years ago by Edson Barboza.

UFC 179 takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on October 25, 2014.  It is headlined by the highly anticipated rematch between featherweight champion Jose Aldo and number one contender Chad Mendes in a rematch.  The main card will be live on pay-per-view and there will be preliminary bouts live on FOX Sports 1 and streaming on UFC Fight Pass.
