Eddie Mendez is the UFC’s newest middleweight

The UFC has added Eddie Mendez (7-1-1) to their middleweight division.

The former Strikeforce fighter took to Twitter and let his fans know that he had officially signed with the organization.

“Well it’s official everyone, I signed with the UFC last night! Thank you to everyone for all of the support and love”

The California based fighter has done well for himself in a somewhat short career. Starting back in 2008, he went 5-0-1(1NC) in his first seven fights. His first loss came back in April 2011 to Joe Williams at a Respect In The Cage event. Since then he has gone 2-0 and most recently won a unanimous-decision victory over M-1 vet Fabio Nascimento.

UFC officials have not announced the signing yet or when Mendez will make his Octagon debut.
