ONE FC: Kojima vs Leone now official, with Boku-Colossa set as co-main event

With former UFC veteran Yasuhiro Urushitani scrapped from the original championship main event showdown against Shinichi Kojima, Andrew Leone was recently picked as a replacement in a non-title match-up that will see the American headline his first ONE FC event when the Singapore-based promotion heads to the Istora Senayan situated in Jakarta, Indonesia on Friday, September 13th.

Officials confirmed the change and other details through various media platforms and on ONE FC’s official website.

ONE FC: Kojima vs Leone now official, with Boku-Colossa set as co-main event

Both Andrew Leone (6-2) and Shinichi Kojima (13-5-5) are 1-0 in their stint with ONE FC thus far, with both fighters showcasing their submission offenses in their respective ONE FC debuts. Leone, a native of Phuket Top Team, is a well-known grappler in the region who holds wins over current UFC fighter Kyung Ho Kang and reigning ONE FC Bantamweight champion, Soo Chul Kim. Kojima, in the meantime, is a Shooto veteran who has fought well over 20 times in his professional MMA career thus far.

Kotetsu Boku (20-8-2), fresh off his defeat against Shinya Aoki at ONE FC 8: Kings and Champions, will be making his first post-title reign appearance against fellow slugger and striking extraordinaire, Vuyisille Colossa (5-4). Both fighters are coming off losses in their previous ONE FC appearances, however, with both athletes possessing similar styles and knockout power, expect to see the victor walking away with ‘Knockout of the Night’ honors in this one.

NCAA Division 1 Wrestler  and Evolve MMA’s Jake Butler (2-0) will be making his 3rd appearance under the ONE FC banner as he looks set to lock horns with Canadian Kickboxing champion, James Kouame (1-1). In this classic striker vs. wrestler bout, a win for  Butler would move him one step closer towards a shot at the inaugural ONE FC 205-lbs championship.

In the preliminary portion of the fight card, Cambodian Long Sophy has been tasked to face Max Metino, a native of Indonesia out of Synergy MMA who will undoubtedly be having the crowd’s backing in this one. Sophy is known to have a great repertoire of striking techniques but he will have to be wary of his opponent’s grappling prowess, with Metino holding a Purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
