First Invicta Event on Fight Pass set for Sep 6th, Invicta FC 8

michelle waterson vs lacie schuckman Invicta FC 8Invicta FC have announced that Invicta FC 8: Waterson vs Tamada will take place on September 6 in Kansas City, and will be the organisation’s first event to be broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass.

First Invicta Event on Fight Pass set for Sep 6th, Invicta FC 8

The main event will see Invicta atomweight champion Michelle Waterson (11-3) defend against Japan’s Yasuko Tamada (15-8-3), with Katja Kankaanpaa (9-1-1) and Stephanie Eggink (4-1) contesting the co-main event for the vacant Invicta strawweight title.

Waterson fights for the first time since winning the title from newly-announced TUF 20 competitor Jessica Penne last April, while Tamada will be fighting outsie of Japan for the first time. Kankaanpaa is coming off her first career loss to Joanne Calderwood in December, while Eggink’s short career includes a win over TUF 20 competitor Heather Clark.

To the surprise of come Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino was not announced for the event, with Shannon Knapp saying that news on Cyborg’s career was imminent but that her “home” was in Invicta. Ediane Gomes, who had been campaigning for a fight with Cyborg, will fight Tonya Evinger on the Sep 6 card in her first fight at 135 pounds.

Also fighting on the card will be TUF 18 competitors Peggy Morgan and Roxanne Modafferi, alongside notable names former BodogFights champion Tara LaRosa and the controversial former Bellator fighter Michelle Ould.

The card will also feature the first Invicta lightweight fight between Veronica Rothenhausler and Charmaine Tweet.
