Retired Boxer vs. YouTuber
Mayweather, 43, last fought in 2017 against MMA superstar Conor McGregor which turned out to be one of the biggest PPV bouts in boxing history. The former five-weight boxing world champion won the fight by a Round 10 TKO and ended his career undefeated in 50 professional bouts.
Logan Paul, 25, last fought in November 2019 against fellow YouTube sensation KSI. He lost the fight by decision in what was his first professional boxing bout. ‘The Maverick’ is the older brother of Jake Paul, a YouTuber himself, who recently fought and knocked out MMA star Ben Askren in the first round. Paul’s only professional bout started a celebrity-boxing trend that has really took off in recent years especially with his younger brother who has gone 3-0 in his professional career.
Paul, who has 22 million YouTube subscribers, has been very vocal for in the past, taunting Mayweather as the pair exchanged insults through social media.
The fight is predicted to do massive PPV figures as Mayweather takes on another boxing bout against someone from outside the traditional boxing world. As you can tell both Mayweather and Paul are not strangers to this type of event.
Betting Odds
Betting odds have already flown in for this fight. According to BetOnline.ag oddsmakers, Floyd Mayweather is a massive favourite at -5000 whilst Logan Paul is a +1500 underdog.
In other words, even if a bettor was to put $5000 on Mayweather to win, the winnings would be a mere $100. On the other hand, if a bettor was to put $100 on Paul to win, the bettor would receive a handsome amount of $1500.
Logan Paul is also a big favourite to bleed first and be knocked down first. The oddsmakers also suggest the fight will go the distance as the bout is ‘made-for-TV’.
