Frankie Edgar vs. Ben Henderson Planned for UFC: Japan

Following Ben Henderson’s victory over Clay Guida at UFC on Fox: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos, Dana White announced that he would be up for a title shot. At the post-fight press conference, White announced that Ben Henderson would meet Frankie Edgar for the lightweight title at UFC: Japan February 26, 2012.

Ben Henderson claimed his spot as the number one contender with a close win over Clay Guida at UFC on Fox. This victory marks Henderson’s third straight UFC win.

I think it’s a good match-up style-wise,” said Henderson at the Post-Fight Press Conference. “Obviously, I’m as confident as any fighter in the UFC. With Frankie, I think I match up very well, I just have to stick to the gameplan, do a better job of that, but I’m very excited. Frankie and I are going to put on a great show.

Edgar will look to make his fourth straight title defence since defeating BJ Penn at UFC 112. Since winning the belt Edgar has defended against Penn and Gray Maynard twice.

The title fight will headline the UFC Japan card which will take place February 26th from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama City, Saitama.
