Frankie Edgar to move down to featherweight

On Fuel TV’s “UFC Tonight” Ariel Helwani announced that he had confirmed that former UFC lightweight champion Frankie “The Answer” Edgar would be dropping down to featherweight. Thus far, there has been no announcement of when Edgar’s debut at 145 pounds will be or against whom.

The move had long been rumoured as Edgar is one of the smaller fighters in the UFC’s lightweight division. Dana White had previously said that Edgar could walk right in to a title shot against featherweight champion Jose Aldo, but backed off of those comments in the press conference following Edgar’s loss to lightweight champion Benson Henderson at UFC 150.
