Gabriel Gonzaga without opponent, as Geronimo dos Santos removed from UFC 153 bout

Geronimo dos Santos (31-14) was expected to take on Gabriel Gonzaga (13-6) in a heavyweight showdown on the preliminary card of UFC 153.

However, UFC officials announced earlier today that dos Santos has been forced off the card. The organization did not give any reasoning behind the scratch.

This leaves Gonzaga without an opponent for his UFC 153 bout and UFC officials did not announce whether they will be seeking a replacement fighter.

UFC 153 is set to go down from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The main event is a light heavyweight fight between middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva and TUF 1 alumni Stephan Bonnar.
