Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre has been training for “fun” for the past couple of months, however today he announced that he tore his left ACL during a training session.

Georges St-Pierre tore left ACL and will need surgery

St-Pierre (25-2) decided to take a leave of absence from the sport of mixed martial arts after a split decision victory against Johny Hendricks at UFC 167 in November of last year.

“Rush” has not lost a fight since 2007 when he was knocked out by Matt Serra. He went on to win his next twelve fights and defend the welterweight championship nine times.

No time frame on St-Pierre’s return to training, but we at MMASucka.com wish him the best of luck.
