Two of the biggest stars in boxing collide as Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis battles ‘King’ Ryan Garcia live on Showtime and DAZN Pay-Per-View this Saturday night in Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena in one of the most highly anticipated bouts in modern boxing history.

Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia Set to Settle Bad Blood in Superfight

In what has been a solid start for boxing this year with the match making to which the sport of boxing had been criticized for many years now, the fight game brings us a much needed jolt of energy as two fighters at the peak of their powers meet in a high stakes battle.

Davis (28-0, 26 KOs) has been a star on the rise for superstardom since defeating Jose Pedraza in 2017 to capture the IBF super featherweight title. He then moved up to capture the WBA lightweight belt by defeating Yuriorkis Gamboa in December 2019.

After a stint of defending the WBA belt, he jumped to super lightweight in June 2021 to add 28 year old Mario Barrios to his unblemished record, before returning to 135 pounds recently to fight Hector Luis Garcia in January of this year. Winning all these fights as mentioned by stoppages.

For many years, despite ‘Tank’ accomplishing many belts and wins across multiple divisions, also defeating the likes of Leo Santa Cruz, ‘Pitbull’ Cruz, and Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero to name a few, Davis has always been linked to the idea of his stiffest test being Ryan Garcia.

Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) has had a long standing rivalry with the Baltimore native. ‘King Ry’ most recently had the toughest test of his even younger career in the form of Luke Campbell, as Garcia was dropped only to comeback and stop Campbell in seven rounds.

Garcia did go on to take a break from boxing for a little over a year, citing mental health struggles as his reasoning to step away.

The 24 year old returned in April of last year to defeat Emmanuel Tagoe via unanimous decision, and returned three months after that to knockout Javier Fortuna in six rounds.

Much like Garcia poses the biggest threat and test to Davis, the same can be said for Davis to Garcia. Both men possess the tools needed to give the other fits. Garcia being shown to be dropped by Campbell begs the question if his chin can take a damaging power punch from Davis who has been shown to shut opponents lights out even in comeback wins.

On the other side of the coin, Davis has always struggled against bigger opponents, and has been prone to being a slow starter two things Garcia is known for exploiting.

After months of social media banter, and years of speculations and call outs, the two undefeated young stars look to cement their legacy and claim bragging rights this Saturday night to put all questions to rest.
