Seasoned Veteran of MMA Reveals Retirement Plans: “I’ve got one more.”

Henry Cejudo has confirmed he will be hanging up his gloves after his next contest after briefly meeting with a certain powerful political figure

Henry Cejudo Gives Career Update in Philadelphia, Short Meeting with Trump

The 2025 edition of the NCAA Division I Men’s Wrestling Championships attracted many popular individuals, including former two-division UFC titleholder Henry Cejudo. The event also saw the President of the United States, Donald Trump, make an appearance, whom Cejudo happily chatted with ringside.

Inquiring with the Olympic gold medalist about the status of his health following his bout with Song Yadong at UFC Fight Night 252, “Triple C” replied, “I’m doing good Mr. President.”

When Trump further questioned him about what was next for him after his loss a couple of weeks ago, Henry Cejudo plainly stated, “I’ve got one more and I’m calling it.”

Henry Cejudo Struggles to Find Success After Coming Out of Retirement

In 2020, Henry Cejudo capped off what was presumed to have been a successful combat sports career by defending his bantamweight strap against the consensus greatest 135-lb fighter ever, Dominick Cruz at UFC 249.

For almost three years, he remained on the sidelines, notably helping train several high-profile competitors like Deiveson Figueiredo and Jon Jones. He then made a sudden comeback at UFC 288, facing then divisional ruler Aljamain Sterling, losing a close split decision.

Since then, Cejudo has yet to get himself back into the winner’s circle, losing a one-sided unanimous decision matchup against future bantamweight king Merab Dvalishvili and most recently, the aforementioned Yadong.

It was all the more unfortunate in his scrap with the latter, as Cejudo was repeatedly pelting the Chinese with hard shots before suffering a gnarly eye poke that wound up stopping the fight.

Who Will Henry Cejudo Face in Final Trip to the Octagon?

Following the events of UFC Fight Night 252, Henry Cejudo openly voiced his desire for a rematch with Yadong, however, the Team Alpha Male product, and even company CEO Dana White, have both shot down the idea.

If he does intend to stick by his word of walking away from the sport after his next bout, the previous double champion has several entertaining matchups available to him. To end his career on a high note, notable last opponents for Henry Cejudo include top notch opposition such as Marcus Kyler Phillips, Rob Font, and Umar Nurmagomedov.
