A few months ago, the Super Fight League caught everybody’s attention when it announced that it’ll be hosting India’s first MMA reality TV series, titled ‘SFL Challengers’.
The format of the show, it seems, will be much like the UFC’s ‘TUF’ show back in the United States, where there’ll be 16 fighters battling for the opportunity to become a professional fighter along with the chance to earn a lucrative contract with the India-based organization.
These fighters will be living under one roof, with all their day-to-day needs being covered for by the promotion. There will be 8 men and 8 women competing each week through bouts that will be of elimination format, with the last remaining male and female fighters being crowned as the victors of the show.
“SFL Challengers is a natural progression after SFL fight nights to facilitate the growth of the sport in the country, the aim is to find India’s MMA stars and to provide them world class facilities to develop,” said Raj Kundra, the owner of Super Fight League.
The coaches of the show were also named by the promotion. The men will be trained by India’s first Kick-Boxing Champion, Daniel Isaac. The women, on the other hand, will be coached by Serbian Fighter Sanja Sucevic, who is 3-1 in her professional MMA career.
‘SFL Challengers’ is set to air on August 5th, on NEOprime and zoom.
