Invicta FC 37 Preview

Main Event: Pearl Gonzalez vs. Brogan Sanchez

Pearl Gonzalez enters this fight having lost in her last outing against Invicta FC flyweight champion Vanessa Porto. Gonzalez was at one point in the UFC and lost her only two fights for the promotion before being released and heading to Invicta. Since coming to Invicta she’s gone 3-1 and if she is able to earn a victory Friday, she could be on the shortlist for a rematch with Porto and a shot at the flyweight title.

Brogan Sanchez sports a perfect 6-0 record and has won both of her fights under the Invicta umbrella since joining the promotion in 2016. She is a talented striker and is coming off of a nice decision victory over Miranda Maverick at Invicta FC 30. Sanchez could use a victory over Pearl Gonzalez to catapult herself into the title picture in the not too distant future.

This has the potential to be a really fun fight. Both ladies are certain to bring their best to the cage due to there being so much on the line. The winner could very well find herself in a title eliminator in her next fight. Sanchez’s key to victory in this one will be her striking advantage. Gonzalez won’t be shy to mix it up though, and she is super strong and could utilize the clinch and control the action against the fence.

Prediction: Brogan Sanchez via Unanimous Decision

Co-Main Event – Mariya Agapova vs. Marilia Santos

Fighting in the co-main event, Mariya Agapova brings her aggressive style that has led to her 6-1 record. She fought and lost this year on Dana White’s Contender Series but immediately rebounded with an impressive first-round submission victory over Alexa Collins at the second Invicta FC Phoenix event. Agapova has four stoppages in her six career victories which is a pretty high rate of stoppage, especially in women’s MMA. She’s a very tough fighter.

Marilla Santos is a talented Brazilian fighter who will be fighting for the first time in Invicta FC. Like Agapova, she too lost this year on Dana White’s Contender Series and makes her Invicta debut Friday. She sports a 10-3 record and has three of those wins via stoppage. She has a very solid submission background and will likely look to grapple in this fight.

Agapova looked very solid in her Invicta debut fight. In her fight against Na Liang at Heroine FC she utilize very effective ground and pound to secure a TKO victory . She has every opportunity to be a star for Invicta and she could well win this fight via TKO.
