Invicta FC 48 Results

For the first time, Invicta FC is heading west to colorful Colorado. Invicta FC 48 is slated for the state capital of Denver at the ReelWorks Denver venue, featuring a bantamweight title fight and six other fights between top prospects from around the world. Stay tuned here for Invicta FC 48 results.

Main Event – “Triple Threat” vs. “Big Bad”

Invicta FC 48’s main event sees reigning champion Taneisha Tennant (4-1) defend her title against Bellator veteran Olga Rubin (7-2). Despite only having five pro MMA fights, Taneisha Tennant has already seen plenty of action on a global stage.

As a relative unknown, she cruised through the Invicta bantamweight Phoenix tournament in 2019, beating three fellow prospects in one night. The trophy earned Tennant the chance to fight at featherweight on Dana White’s Contender Series later that year, where she was out-struck by skilled boxer Danyelle Wolf.

Despite the loss, Taneisha appeared in Invicta a year later in a bantamweight title fight with technical brawler Lisa Verzosa. The speed and range of Tennant proved too much for Verzosa, and Taneisha Tennant became the new Invicta FC bantamweight champion.

To challenge Tennant, Invicta has brought in Israeli Olga Rubin, who is returning to the States to fight for the first time since her stint with Bellator. In that promotion, Rubin fought at featherweight and rattled off three wins en route to a title shot against then-champion Julia Budd in 2019.

A loss there and in the fight after that led to her release from Bellator, but she has since returned to the winners’ circle with a victory fighting for Central European promotion Oktagon. The win was Rubin’s first drop to 135lbs, paving the way to tonight’s title opportunity against Tennant.

If victorious, Rubin will have successfully restarted her MMA career under a new weight class.

Other Prospects to Watch at Invicta FC 48

Also on the Invicta FC 48 card is a battle between rising flyweights Liana Pirosin (8-4) and Kristina Williams (5-3). Both flyweights looked sharp in their last performances, and with the flyweight throne now vacated with the signing of Karina Rodriguez to Bellator, the winner of this fight should be first in line for a title shot.

Dutchwoman Isis Verbeek (3-1) also makes her return to the Invicta cage for the first time since her pro debut, taking on fellow striker Melissa Odessa Parker (3-1). After a hyped debut fell flat for the former Glory kickboxer Verbeek in 2018, she has won three straight for Combate Global and iKON Fighting Federation. She now trains at American Top Team and is likely to display a striking war with the former boxing world champion Parker, who was originally set to be on the current season of The Ultimate Fighter, but medical issues forced her to be replaced by Hannah Guy.

Opening Invicta FC 48 is a bantamweight battle between California’s Autumnn Norton (1-1) and Canada’s Maria Djukic (2-0). Both bantamweights have already fought tough competition in their short careers and could be the future of the division.
