Invicta FC 57: Ferreira vs. Romero Results

Two rising Brazilians will go head to head in the main event of Invicta FC 57 for the vacant atomweight championship. Elisandra Ferreira, a three-fight unbeaten veteran of Invicta, will square off with countrywoman Andressa Romero in a huge fight for atomweight supremacy.

Fight fans can catch Invicta FC 57 airing live on CBS Sports, with the three preliminary bouts set to air on Invicta’s YouTube channel at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.

Vacant Atomweight Championship — Ferreira vs. Romero

Both Ferreira and Romero are seven-win fighters, and a five-round fight seems like a safe bet given the career both fighters have had to date. Neither Brazilian has been finished, and while Ferreira has one knockout win on her record, Romero is the owner of two submissions. Both train at accomplished gyms for Brazilian women’s MMA in Mesquita Bros. and MSP, and both possess the well-rounded skillset necessary to reigning at the top of the atomweight mountain for the foreseeable future.

However, whereas Ferreira is a career atomweight, Romero spent time fighting at strawweight for various promotions before winning her Invicta debut over the summer, cashing as a near 2-1 underdog against Saori Oshima. Two of her defeats have additionally come to Denise Gomes and Fatima Kline, both of whom have arrived in the UFC, so considering everything, Romero appears to have had the tougher strength of schedule.

As it presently stands, Ferreira is a -140 favorite on most sportsbooks, while Romero can be had for around a +110 price tag.

Rest of the Card

The co-main event will see former Invicta FC flyweight title challenger Kristina Williams return against 7-1-1 Brazilian Nayara Maia. Stylistically, Williams is always in a tough fight for herself and her opponent, constantly pressing the action with dirty boxing and wrestling. The 34-year-old Maia appeared on Dana White’s Contender Series two years ago, and it will be in her best interest to keep the fight as clean looking as possible if she wants to get her hand raised.

Also on the main card, Liz Tracy takes on DeAnna Bennett in a battle of American women’s flyweight vets. Milana Dudieva is also set for flyweight action against Invicta FC debutant Sandra Lavado out of Peru. The main card will be opened by a women’s featherweight bout between Australian Jamie Edenden and Mexico’s Abby Montes.
