Women’s MMA Opens Big Sports Weekend Feb. 7 in Atlanta

Invicta FC 60 is less than one month away. On Feb. 7, 48 hours before the NFL’s two best teams square off in New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX from Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, one of the biggest sports weekends of the early part of 2025 gets underway in Atlanta.

To quote the title of a song by Queen Latifah from her 1989 record All Hail The Queen, “Ladies First.” Super Bowl weekend kicks off on Friday, Feb. 7 with Invicta FC 60, the promotion announced Wednesday.

The card is the first evening of two nights in a row of MMA. On Feb. 8 (US time,) the UFC returns to Australia for UFC 312 on pay-per-view. UFC 312 is currently set to be headlined by a championship doubleheader, including a fight for the promotion’s middleweight title between Dricus du Plessis (22-2 MMA, 8-0 UFC) and Sean Strickland (29-6 MMA, 16-6 UFC) in the main event of the evening.

Invicta FC 60 Marks Second Consecutive Card From Promotion in Atlanta

Much like Invicta FC 59 last month, Feb. 7’s Invicta FC 60 will emanate from Atlanta, but this time around, Shannon Knapp‘s promotion heads to Center Stage, which will serve as the host arena for the show on the Friday night before the Super Bowl.

The Dec. 13 Invicta FC 59 set up shop inside The Eastern in Atlanta. Invicta FC 60 will be the first card from the women’s MMA promotion to take place in 2025.

Much like Invicta FC’s 2024 slate, United States-based viewers of Invicta FC 60 will be able to catch the card on CBS Sports Network. Invicta and CBS Sports Network came to terms on a media rights deal ahead of the June 28 Invicta FC 55 card.

Awesome Fights Taking Place During Invicta FC 60

As always with Invicta, the Feb. 7 card features a pair of must-see affairs at the top of the bill. Both the main and co-main event of the evening that Friday night have high stakes attached to them.

During the headlining bout, bantamweights take to the cage when Olga Rubin (9-4 MMA, 2-2 Invicta), an alumnae of both Bellator MMA and Oktagon MMA, meets up with Mayra Cantuaria (10-6-1 MMA, 1-1 Invicta,) a veteran of the LFA. Rubin enters Invicta FC 60 having posted a mark of 3-2 in her last five fights dating back to Nov. 6, 2021 in Oktagon.

Last time out, she sustained a second-round submission by way of rear-naked choke at the hands of Talita Bernardo (11-5 MMA, 4-1 Invicta) on June 28 of last year during Invicta FC 55’s main event on CBS Sports Network, one fight after she locked in a buggy choke submission versus Claire Guthrie.

In the other corner, Mayra Cantuaria comes into the Feb. 7 headliner having posted a 2-3 record over her last five MMA appearances dating back to July 15, 2021. Back in August of 2024, she dropped a unanimous decision to current Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion Jennifer Maia (23-10-1 MMA, 6-2 Invicta) during Invicta FC 56 in Denver. The winner of the Invicta FC 60 main event could be on the fast track to potentially unseating Maia later on in 2025.

Featherweights Lock Horns During Invicta FC 60 Co-Main Event

Immediately beforehand, the Invicta FC 60 co-main event sees action shift to the featherweight ranks for a contest pitting Jackie Cataline (5-3 MMA, 1-0 Invicta FC) against Jaime Edenden (5-2-1 MMA, 1-0 Invicta.) Cataline was supposed to have competed on Invicta FC 59 last month but her fight that evening against Riley Martinez (4-0 MMA, 1-0 Invicta) was postponed on the direction of the Georgia State Athletic Commission.

She’s posted a record of 3-2 in her last five MMA fights. Currently, Cataline is on a two-fight winning streak. Last time out, she bested Kelly Ottoni (5-1 MMA, 0-1 Invicta) via third-round knockout due to ground and pound shots in August of last year.

Across the way, Jamie Edenden comes into Invicta FC 60 having posted a mark of 4-0-1 in her last five bouts inside the cage. Most recently, she scored a unanimous decision victory over Abby Montes (4-4 MMA, 0-1 Invicta) back in September during Invicta FC 57.

Final Thoughts
