Isaac Dulgarian CUT From the UFC after Suspicious Betting Patterns

Following the events of this past weekend’s UFC Fight Night card, Isaac Dulgarian has been released from the UFC. This comes as a result of suspicious activity with regard to betting odds shortly before Isaac Dulgarian clashed with Yadier Del Valle on the main card.

These odds appeared to be correct as Isaac Dulgarian put in a pitiful performance against Del Valle on his way to a first round submission loss. The performance was so poor that it led to a lengthy rant by UFC analyst and fighter, Michael Chiesa, questioning everything Dulgarian did in the octagon on Saturday night.

The bout was so controversial that some sportsbooks, including Caesars Sportsbook made the decision to refund any bets lost on Dulgarian after the bizarre outing from the American.

Isaac Dulgarian Released From the UFC

The news came from Ariel Helwani that Isaac Dulgarian has been cut from the UFC after Saturday night.

Helwani states: “The official reason was attributed to last night’s loss, however, the bout has been the center of controversy”.

The Midwest Choppa has a record of 7-2 and a UFC record of 2-2 with two finishes. Dulgarian is usually an exciting fighter, never going the distance when he’s won a fight, however, this wasn’t the case on Saturday night.

He shot in for a lazy takedown with little desire to complete the wrestling transition and when his opponent had his back, his jiu jitsu defence was questionable. He never looked to fight the hands and seemingly gave up his neck with relative ease.

Not for the First Time

It isn’t the first time a UFC fighter has been cut by the UFC over betting controversy. In 2022 featherweight Darrick Minner was cut after a TKO loss to Shayilan Nuerdanbieke. On that occassion, like on Saturday night, a lot of late money came in on Nuerdanbieke a short time before the bout.

After investigations, both Minner and his coach, former UFC fighter and well-respected coach, James Krause were suspended. We haven’t seen Krause cornering again in the UFC since and UFC barred fighters from training at his gym and using him as a cornerman. It isn’t clear if this ban has been lifted, however. Minner’s teammate Jeff Molina was also suspended for placing a large bet on the fight.
