Jake Ellenberger knocks out Nate Marquardt at UFC 158

Two heavy handed strikers take to the Octagon, as Jake Ellenberger and Nate Marquardt square off.

The first round opens with both men trading strikes and leg kicks. Late in the first Ellenberger showed off his hands when he landed a beautiful left hook combination which dropped Marquardt. The ground and pound forced the referee to stop the fight.

As one of six welterweights on the UFC 158 fight card, Ellenberger proved a point with a big knockout.

Ellenberger spoke to the media following the fight.

“He kicked me hard to the leg and one to the body and I thought ‘Okay, we going to end this fast’. I saw he squared up whenever he kicked so I threw hard every time he did that. This no doubt the biggest KO of my life, and it puts me right there for a title fight or No1 contender fight.

“I want to say something. After the Kampmann fight there were people saying I was “gun shy” and not the same fighter. I showed tonight that’s total BS. I can knockout anyone in the division and I go for the KO every chance I get. The setback in the Kampmann fight only made me stronger. I’m very happy right now.”
