John Alessio takes on Shane Roller at UFC 148

John Alessio had little time to prepare for his first fight back in the octagon. He lost a unanimous decision to Mark Bocek at UFC 145.

He gets a chance to redeem himself, as the UFC has booked him against Shane Roller at UFC 148.

UFC officials announced the match on Thursday.

Roller was a WEC standout in the lightweight division, and when the WEC and UFC merged he went on to win his debut fight in the octagon against Thiago Tavares. Unfortunately he has since gone on to lose his next three fights.

More than likely both men are looking for the win, so they aren’t served their walking papers.

UFC 148 takes place on July 7 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will be headlined by a middleweight title fight between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen.
