Johny Hendricks says his gameplan for Georges St-Pierre is ‘easy as that’

The UFC welterweight championship will be on the line at an unknown event on an unknown date. One thing that isn’t unknown however is the two fighters who will be going head to head, as the champ Georges St-Pierre will be taking on Johny Hendricks.

Hendricks has been considered the number one contender in the 170-pound division for some time now, but officially earned that status once and for all after beating former interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit at UFC 158 in March.

St-Pierre has held the crown in the welterweight division since 2008 and has defended the title nine times. The champ is known for is excellent game-plans coming into fights and often times using his opponents prowess against them.

“Big Rig” has a fantastic left hand which has knocked out three of his last six opponents, also earning him “Knockout of the Night” honors. Hendricks is also a Division 1 NCAA wrestler, so he has that to fall back on. He doesn’t seem to be keeping his game-plan for the upcoming title fight a secret – in fact he is calling it ‘easy as that.’

“I’ll tell you my gameplan. I’m gonna hit you with my left. If that doesn’t work I’m going to try to take you down. If that doesn’t work, I’m going to find a way to win, Georges. Easy as that. I wrestled, and all I had was a single-leg. But, I had different ways of setting it up. One thing that he cannot prepare for is my heart, my speed, and my determination to win. He says to everybody, ‘You’ve not faced anybody like me’. Well guess what? He’s never faced a 208-pound, 170 welterweight that has power and a true wrestler.” – via MMA Fight Corner

As mentioned above there is no word as to where the fight will take place, but UFC officials have made it clear that they would like GSP to fight somewhere other than Canada for his next title defense.
