Jon Fitch will take on Gerald Harris in World Series of Fighting debut this June

The rumor mill was swirling after Jon Fitch was released from the UFC and now that can stop, as he has found a new home. The former welterweight contender has signed a four-fight deal with the World Series of Fighting.

The contract length was reported by Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com.

Fitch’s first opponent will be former UFC fighter Gerald Harris and the bout will take place on June 15 at WSOF 3; that is according to Harris’ Twitter account.

Late in February Fitch was on a list of 16 fighters who were released from the UFC. Many fans and media members alike were very surprised by this cut, but UFC President Dana White simply said that he was too expensive.

Most recently Fitch lost a unanimous decision to Demian Maia at UFC 156.

Harris last fought at the WSOF debut card and lost to another former UFC fighter Josh Burkman.

Also featured on the June 15 WSOF 3 card will be a lightweight battle between Jacob Volkmann and Lyle Beerbohm.
