Jon Jones signs sponsorship deal with Nike

Word on the street is, that UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has signed a global sponsorship agreement with Nike.

The MMA world has seen rumors swirling for what seems like the past year that the champ and Nike were in discussion about a potential partnership and it has now become true.

MMAFighting.com first reported the news of Jones’ Nike signing. According to the report Jones has agreed to a multi-year deal that will have the champ featured on worldwide Nike advertising and receive his own signature line of shoes and clothes.

Shortly after being announced, Jones confirmed the statement via his official Twitter account.

“Blessed to be signed by the biggest sports apparel company in the world #NIKE Dreams do come true”

This will be the first MMA fighter signed to a global sponsorship with Nike. Other fighters in the past, such as Anderson Silva and Yoshihiro Akiyama has been signed by the company, however those were local deals.

Jones is expected to face-off against Dan Henderson at UFC 151 on September 1 and you can expect to see him sporting the Nike “Swoosh.”
