Karate Combat 51 Live Results: Vacant Bantamweight Title Is Up For Grabs

Once again, top-level martial arts takes center stage in Florida, as Karate Combat 51 brings together some of the best fighters in the world to cap off what has been an exciting year for the promotion. In the main event, Arturo Vergara will lock horns with previous Karate Combat Bantamweight Champion Eoghan Chelmiah for the vacant 135-lb strap. Before that, however, famed Brazilian kickboxer Cosmo Alexandre will make his company debut versus Igor de Castañeda.

Karate Combat 51 Main Event

With a perfect 4-0 record inside Karate Combat, Arturo Vergara stands as one of the top bantamweight contenders in the promotion. Having finished three of those four wins by knockout, the vacant title could easily be a single punch away for him as he looks to secure his first ever championship. The former title holder, though, will not make it easy for him, with Eoghan Chelmiah seeking to regain his spot at the top after defending his belt three times before.

Karate Combat 51 Co-Main Event

In the penultimate bout of the night, Cosmo Alexandre makes his first combat sports appearance in over two years since starching Juan Cervantes with a massive elbow at ONE Fight Night 4 in 2022. Before that, he catapulted himself into mainstream stardom within the realm of MMA by handing Sage Northcutt one of the most devastating knockout defeats ever witnessed. His opponent, Igor de Castañeda, looks to bounce back after a failed middleweight title opportunity against Ross Levine last year. A member of the Karate Combat roster since 2018, “The Iberian Bull” had not lost a fight in the promotion in over four years.

The Rest of the Card

Other notable fights include:

  • Former UFC fighters Rafael Alves and Khama Worthy duke it out to advance their place in the division.
  • Robelis Despaigne makes his first appearance since his UFC departure opposite Dominik Jędrzejczyk
  • Gabriel Varga takes on Andres Madera
