Saygid Izagakhmaev will be making his way to ONE Championship this December. Making the announcement was his training partner and coach, Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The all-time mixed martial arts great posted to social media of the news saying, “I want to share news with you guys, my brother Saygid Izagakhmaev has signed a contract with ONE Championship and his next fight will be on [sic] December.”

ONE Founder and CEO, Sityodtong, responded thanking Nurmagomedov and promising to see him in the near future.

The 27-year-old new addition has a strong resume. Izagakhmaev has been competing in the welterweight division and racked up 19 total wins to date. In the same Eagles MMA fashion, the Dagestani has shown off superior grappling skills by finishing 12 of his opponents by way of submission. Izagakhmaev also has two KO/TKO finishes to his credit.
Izagakhmaev has played an important role in Nurmagomedov’s training camps in the past, but he has the retired legend in his corner as a coach.
This was evident in his last outing in September.
After the first round, Nurmagomedov told him the judges gave his opponent the first round and instructed him with what went wrong. In the second round, the tides turned, and Izagakhmaev secured the rear-naked choke over Maxim Butorin.
That victory has led him to this moment by putting pen to paper and signing with ONE.
There has been no confirmation on who will stand opposite Izagakhmaev inside the Circle later this year, but with Nurmagomedov by his side, everyone should be on notice that a new contender is walking onto the global stage.
