ONE Championship has handed out two suspensions following January’s ONE Friday Fights 95 event. The two athletes who are forced to spend time away from the ring competed against each other on that night. Kiamran Nabati defeated Ferrari Fairtex by first-round knockout, but both will end up on the outside looking in for a while.
Kiamran Nabati Suspended One Year for Violating Anti-Doping Rules
These violations are in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), which is used by ONE’s anti-doping policies. The samples were tested by ONE’s anti-doping partner in Sweden, the International Doping Tests & Management (IDTM). IDTM works with many of the leading sports organizations around the world, including the MLB, NBA, NCAA, NFL, and the PGA Tour.
Kiamran Nabati will serve a one-year doping ban for testing positive for drostanolone, modafinil, and meldonium (h/t Bangkok Post). Drostanolone is an anabolic steroid, while modafinil improves reaction time and meldonium improves cardio and recovery. It is also not the first time Nabati has been suspended for banned substances.
Kiamran Nabati Received Earlier Bans
The Russian had already been given a six-year ban from the amateur governing body International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) in 2017. The IFMA levied the ban on Kiamran Nabati for testing positive for clenbuterol and tampering. He was banned again in 2024 for clenbuterol, drostanolone, meldonium, and tampering.
Kiamran Nabati’s Opponent Receives Lighter Ban
Ferrari will only receive a three-month suspension for his positive tests. The Thai athlete tested positive for heptaminol, which increases blood flow, and octodrine, a stimulant. The 27-year-old can return to action in the summer.
The fiery finish to their encounter has now been overturned, and the result of their match has been deemed a no-contest. These suspensions highlight ONE’s independent testing through IDTM and compliance with WADA rules and regulations.
