‘King Mo’ Lawal suspended 9 months and released from Strikeforce

Earlier today the Nevada State Athletic Commission handed out a hefty fine and suspension to King Mo Lawal.

Lawal was in court to answer to a positive drug test following his January 7 win over Lorenz Larkin. After nearly 30mins of questioning the commission voted unanimously to take Lawal’s win bonus and fine him 30 percent of his purse, which equates to a total of $39,000. Along with the fine his win over Larkin was changed to a ‘No Contest’ and he will serve a nine month suspension which will start retroactively from the time of the fight on Jan. 7.

Prior to his fight with Larkin, Lawal admitted to taking a supplement as part of his MMA exercise program that was recommended by a nutrition chain which was called S-Mass Lean Gainer. This was the supplement that was believed to have caused him to test positive for Drostanolone.

Following the announcement of his suspension Lawal voiced his opinion on twitter

“I honestly feel like Lundvall was a racist bitch asking me if I can read or speak english. Go on somewhere with that [expletive]!!!”

It didn’t take long for those comments and the suspension to get Lawal in deeper trouble with Zuffa. UFC President Dana White spoke with MMAJunkie.com and confirmed that King Mo was released from his Strikeforce contract.

Whether it was the tweet that got him in trouble or not, White did not explain, but Lawal explained his actions, stating that he believed the line of questioning was racist due to his past experience.
