Kongo grinds his way to a unanimous decision victory over Jordan

These are two dangerous strikers to say the least.

With a huge step up in competition for Shawn Jordan, he seemed fairly relaxed to start the fight. Kongo controlled the cage play in the first round and Jordan ended up landing a low blow which forced the referee to stop the fight. The fight resumed shortly after. Most of the round was spent playing the cage.

The second round starts the same, with both men pushing up against the cage. Kongo threw a couple hard punches midway through the round, but Jordan weathered the storm well. Jordan finished the round in top position on the ground.

The grinding continued in the third round, with Jordan completely gassed. Kongo completely controlled the clinch game all the way to the final bell.

Cheick Kongo def. Shawn Jordan by Unanimous Decision (30-28,30-27,30-27)

Kongo spoke about his victory following the fight.

“I tried to keep control of him.  I hit him with some good strikes and landed a few good knees.  I even stopped his takdowns.  I need to go back on work on a few things but I’m glad I got the win.  I will continue to train hard with my camp.”
