KSW 79: De Fries vs. Duffee Results

KSW 79 will serve as the promotion’s debut in the Czech Republic. The event will take place in Liberec. In the headlining bout, Phil De Fries will defend his heavyweight title against his former opponent,  Todd Duffee

KSW Heavyweight Title Bout

De Fries is the current champion and has dominated the heavyweight division in KSW. The fighter from Sunderland has already made seven successful defenses of the championship gold. In his last appearance, he defeated Ricardo Prasel via submission in the very first round. This time, the Englishman will face a familiar foe in Duffee, who has already beaten him in the past.

The fight took place back in December 2012 at UFC 155. The American won by TKO in the first outing. Since then, however, Duffee has only fought three times in MMA. His last three bouts ended with one victory, and one loss and the third one was declared a No Contest. It is worth mentioning that his last victory dates back to 2014.

Rest of the Card

Liberec’s own Dominik Humburger will be a part of the co-main event. The Czech native , who sports an unblemished record of 5 consecutive wins, will look to continue his winning streak. His opponent will be Jorge Luiz Bueno, who stepped in as a last-minute replacement for Nemanja Nikolic. In the heavyweight division, FEN and GLORY alumni Arkadiusz Wrzosek will try to avenge his kickboxing loss against Tomas Mozny. Two veterans of the Polish MMA circuit, Daniel Omielańczuk, and Michał Kita will meet inside the KSW circular cage.
