After an eight-year career, Kyle Kingsbury has called it quits from the sport of MMA.

The decision came after a one-sided beat down against Patrick Cummins at UFC on FOX 12. Cummins takedowns could not be stopped and he landed an amazing eleven on Kingsbury in their preliminary card bout.

“I’m not sure if it was the time off or the fact his wrestling is so good, that I was never able to get comfortable in the Octagon,” Kingsbury said in a statement to the UFC. “[Cummins] set his takedowns well and I really couldn’t do much to stop them. That was definitely my last fight. I told everyone I didn’t want to be a .500 fighter and so enough was enough.  It didn’t make sense to get beat up anymore.”

Kingsbury (11-6, 1NC) retires on a four-fight losing streak, with losses to Stephan Bonnar, Glover Teixeira, Jimi Manuwa and the UFC on FOX 12 loss to Cummins.

The AKA fighter made his way into the UFC as a contestant on the eighth season of The Ultimate Fighter. After a loss at the finale to Tom Lawler, he went on a four-fight winning streak.

Kingsbury leaves the UFC with a record of 4-5 inside the Octagon.
