Loopy Godinez Looks to Kick Off 2025 With A Bang

Loopy Godinez Ready to Rock at UFC Mexico

Ranked at number 11 in the world at women’s strawweight, Loopy Godinez looks to get back in the win column after a couple of setbacks in her last two outings.

At UFC Mexico on March 29, Godinez will step foot inside the Octagon against a woman known as ‘Psycho’ Julia Polastri.

Loopy Godinez vs. Julia Polastri

Godinez (12-5) is 7-4 under the UFC banner and has faced some top-notch competition. The Mexican-Canadian fighter was riding a very impressive four-fight winning streak, with victories over Cynthia Calvillo, Emily Ducote, Elise Reed and Tabatha Ricci, before losing back-to-back fights recently.

In March of 2024, Godinez lost a decision in a close battle against Virna Jandiroba and most recently, in August of last year she lost to the grappling heavy Mackenzie Dern. Loopy was unable to get her game going against Dern and unfortunately lost a decision in that outing.

The 31-year-old has tremendous cage wrestling and grappling skills but has honed her boxing and standup to be able to get to the wrestling. If she can showcase that against Polastri, it could be a long night for the Brazilian.

Polastri (13-4) won a split decision against Cory McKenna in her most recent bout in October of 2024. The 27-year-old earned her shot at the UFC with a second-round submission over Patricia Alujas on the Contender Series and then lost her debut in June of last year against Josefine Knutsson via unanimous decision.

With only two Octagon appearances, she is still early in her UFC tenure, so a match against Godinez could showcase her skillset or on the other hand, make or break her UFC run.

Godinez looks to cement herself in the rankings and get a top 10 opponent again in her next outing, while Polastri will try to play the upset card and be ranked herself following this UFC Mexico fight.

Having fought four times in 2023 and twice in 2024, Loopy Godinez will be hungry in 2025 to get back to her winning ways.

UFC Mexico goes down on Saturday, March 29 from the Arena CDX in Mexico City, Mexico and will be headlined by a flyweight bout between former champion Brandon Moreno and former title challenger Steve Erceg. The 13-bout card looks to be fireworks and should excite fans from the opening bout to the main event.
