Luke Rockhold Plays Down Kevin Holland’s Injury

Luke Rockhold has taken aim at fan-favourite Kevin Holland following the latter’s recent loss. Speaking on the Jaxxon Podcast, the former middleweight champion was asked about Holland’s recent loss to Mike Malott, where he suffered multiple low blows and was clearly affected as a result. He went on to lose the fight via unanimous decision. The loss extended Big Mouth‘s losing streak to two straight; however, props must be given as it was his fifth fight of 2025.

Rockhold isn’t sure if Holland was completely truthful in relation to how badly it affected him. He commented, stating:
It wasn’t really in the balls. I just watched that fight, I literally just watched it, and that was borderline, like, barely touching you. If you’re wearing a cup, that doesn’t hurt. It doesn’t hurt that bad. All love for Kevin, but there’s a lot going into that and it wasn’t exactly necessary”.

Luke Rockhold Questions Holland’s Motives

Luke Rockhold went on to question what Holland’s motive was if indeed the foul wasn’t as bad as it was being made out to be.
“I don’t know, maybe his balls are just really big or something. A little higher up? There’s a lot going into this”.
“You should just not fight or fight. Really, that’s what it comes down to. He took five minutes and 30 seconds then he went into the fight and he was still grabbing his balls for the rest of the minute. Then he went into the next round, it’s like he just kept going”.

The loss put Holland in a difficult position, slipping to 2-3 in his last five outings. He seems to have finally found a home at welterweight, competing at 170lbs for his past four fights. Prior to that, he flipped between welterweight and middleweight, where he was fairly undersized.

Luke Rockhold last competed in MMA back in 2022 and has tested the waters in a number of different combat sports since. From Karate Combat to Bare Knuckle boxing and most recently influencer boxing, Rockhold hasn’t quite lived up to the talent that he showed during his Strikeforce days.
