A pivotal middleweight bout between top contenders Lyoto Machida and Yoel Romero has been scheduled as the main event of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 4 Finale later this year.
Combate reported the matchup on Thursday night. UFC officials confirmed the bout later that night.
Lyoto Machida vs Yoel Romero headlines ‘TUF: Brazil 4’ Finale in South Florida
Machida (22-6) is coming off a devastating submission loss to No. 1 contender Luke Rockhold last month, in the main event of UFC on FOX 15. Prior to that, he rebounded from a July title fight loss to Chris Weidman with a quick first-round TKO over C.B. Dollaway last December in Brazil.
Romero (9-1) is undefeated in the UFC, and is most recently coming off a third-round TKO win over Tim Kennedy last September. He also owns a decision win over Brad Tavares, and stopped Derek Brunson last year via TKO.
TUF: Brazil 4 Finale was initially scheduled for Sao Paulo, Brazil but has been moved to South Florida on June 27. Originally, Rick Story vs. Erick Silva was reported as the headliner, but that welterweight bout will now serve as the co-feature of the evening.
With that move, the TUF: ATT vs. Blackzilians Finale has been moved to Las Vegas.
