Marcin Held’s PFL contract expires at end of this year. The Polish lightweight competitor will have to consider every available option as he is unsure that Professional Fighters League will be interested in resigning him.
Marcin Held Weighs His Options Ahead of His Potential PFL Departure
Held was present in Robert Maciejewski’s corner during his fight against Arkadiusz Kaszuba at KSW 72. After the fight Held was interviewed by the Polish media outlet InTheCage about his colleague’s fight and his future.
The Bellator, UFC, and ACA veteran admitted that he is not in the best position when it comes down to negotiating a new deal with PFL and that he wants to use London’s Polish community support to convince promotion’s higher-ups.
During the interview, Held said:
“I am definitely not in a comfortable position. Unfortunately, it happens in this sport that sometimes it goes better, sometimes it gets worse. As for now just now everything is uphill for me. We will see, so far I have not thought about it because I really don’t know if PFL will want to extend the contract with me. If so, under what conditions, whether any other organizations will be interested? Now I am fighting in London, so I hope that as many Polish fans as possible from the London area will come to the event. I hope that the PFL will actually see that the Poles support me and thanks to that I will get the next contract. I do not hide that I would like to stay in PFL, I would like to fight in the tournament next year. But to do that I need to sell a lot of tickets for the event in London. ”
When asked if he would consider signing with the KSW Held replied:
“I would take that into consideration. In general, I would consider offers made by all the largest organizations. Well, KSW is undoubtedly one of the largest organizations here in Europe, or even in the world. If there would be such an offer made, I would consider it.”

Held made his PFL debut at the first event of the 2021 Regular Season. He defeated Nathan Schulte by unanimous decision. Unfortunately, his loss to Olivier Aubin-Mercier at the PFL 4 event cost him his place in the Play-Offs. His losing streak continued as he lost to Schulte at the PFL 4 event during the 2022 regular season.
