There are many MMA promotions on the scene, but none as big as the UFC. Some feel like they are giving the big show a run for their money – yeah right.
Mark Fischer: Only competition to UFC is NFL and NBA
At the special announcement press conference prior to UFC Fight Night 34 in Singapore, UFC Asia Managing Director Mark Fischer was asked about competition and his answer was simple, “what type of competitors.”
He went on to say,”I don’t know what ‘competitors’ you are referring to unless it’s NFL or NBA.”
The competition in Asia that one could be talking about is ONE FC.
ONE FC launched in 2011 and has put on 13 events in Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and Malaysia. They are widely considered the largest MMA promotion in Asia and have the likes of Bibiano Fernandes, Shinya Aoki and Ben Askren signed to their roster.
We have seen what happens when the UFC feels like a competitor is getting too close. Do you remember PRIDE? Or Strikeforce? I do not think that we will see that happen with any of the Asian promotions, however we may see them snatch up a handful of their talent.

What a non article, The UFC did not want Askrin and Aoki did not want the UFC. ONE FC failed miserably to sell tickets in both Malaysia and Indonesia although they are Kings in Singapore. In the Philippines the PXC destroy them in TV ratings. PXC is a more proven path to the UFC than ONE FC.
