Miocic wins battle of slugging heavyweights

The first batch of heavyweights to apply their skills to the octagon tonight are Stipe Miocic and Phil De Fries – Miocic is one of the hottest heavyweight prospects around sporting a perfect 7-0 record and just defeated big-time slugger Joey Beltran in his UFC debut.

De Fries also walks into the cage without a loss on his record and made his UFC debut dispatched of his fellow Brit Rob Broughton edging him on points.

These two giant, heavy-handed fighters were put in there for one reason – To swing for the fences until someone drops and that’s exactly what happened.

Both combatants wasted no time throwing their heavy hands around looking to hit the other on the button and it was Miocic who hit first nailing the Brit with a straight right-hand that put him on dream-street.

Miocic pounced on his opponent raining down hammer fists before referee Dan Mirgliotta was forced to step in and stop the action.
