According to a UFC statement issued on Wednesday, Mirko Cro Cop has been provisionally suspended by The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) for potentially violating their anti-doping policy. It is likely Cro Cop tested positive for a form of performance-enhancing drugs, but the specific substance he used was not confirmed.
Mirko Cro Cop suspended for potential Anti-Doping Policy violation
USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Cro Cop.
Cro Cop was scheduled to face Anthony Hamilton at UFC Fight Night 79 later this month but earlier this week announced he suffered a shoulder injury, and shortly after confirmed his official retirement from mixed martial arts.
Cro Cop returned to the Octagon earlier this year in a rematch against Gabriel Gonzaga. He defeated the Brazilian via TKO in the main event of UFC Fight Night 64 in Krakow, Poland.
UFC officials confirmed that Hamilton will be re-booked on another card at a later date.
