Mitch Raposo talks Dominant Title Defense at Cage Titans 40

Exclusive Post-Fight Interview: Mitch Raposo

Deep inside the walls of Plymouth Memorial Hall in the historic town of Plymouth, MA, 15 bouts and five title fights graced fans of New England mixed martial arts. Cage Titans held its 41st event, (40th numbered) featuring top-ranked New England flyweight prospect, Mitch Raposo, as he took on William Graustuck for the second time. This time for Raposo’s belt.

Quick Fight Breakdown

The second fight went in a similar fashion to the first. At Cage Titans 40, Raposo dominated over course of five rounds, leaving Graustuck in defensive mode for much of the fight. Graustuck was taken down at will and controlled there for long periods of time. Not only was this dominant display similar to his first contest with Graustuck, but it is not unlike the entirety of his mixed martial arts career.

Dominant Amateur Career

Through his five amateur bouts, Raposo has not lost a round official or otherwise. Such dominance scared away other top-ranked flyweights in this region and beyond. Thus, Raposo has had trouble booking fights. Hence the past rematch of a fight which was never close.

Finding Fights

Even now, his next bout is another rematch as he takes on David Durao at the upcoming October AMMO event in western Massachusetts. It is unfortunate for fans of the region who have been denied more competitive bouts in a division that is routinely labeled as ‘boring.’ Opinions would surely change in the area if the top-ranked fighters of that division were matched up.

Due to this frustrating trend, Raposo plans to turn pro following his bout for AMMO. Hopefully, the pastures of professional fighters will provide the 19-year-old a comparable test.

AMMO Battlegrounds MMA takes place on October 13th at the Big E in West Springfield, MA. The event features Swagath Pillai as he defends his amateur lightweight title against Brian Cosco. Also on the card, Regiment Training Center teammate, Jordan Butler, takes on Jonathan Colon.
