MMASucka Staff Picks Contender Series Ep. 80: Welterweights Collide in Exciting Clash

Coming off a fun and relaxing labor day weekend, top-level mixed martial arts action resumes in the UFC Apex, as Contender Series rolls on. Taking top billing, 7-1 Jack Congdon locks horns with LFA veteran Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani. In the co-main event, the undefeated Theo Haig tussles with European phenom Cezary Oleksiejczuk.

Contender Series Main Event

Unbeaten in his last trio of contests, Congdon has raised his stock immensely as a tried-and-true finisher after picking up three back-to-back stoppage victories. Heading into his excursion to Las Vegas, the Cage Titans luminary has his eyes firmly fixed on walking out of the Apex with a UFC contract in his hand.

At just 26-years old, Lebosnoyani has already accomplished much in his career, sharing the top spot on two different LFA events. Ready to take his talents to the biggest stage in all of combat sports, “Mufasa” is eager to shoot his shot with a resounding performance on the Contender Series.

Contender Series Co-Main Event

Although he only has six fights on his record as a professional, Haig has logged quite a bit of experience for himself, taking several scraps in high-profile promotions like the LFA and Bellator. Unbeaten in his short stint as a mixed martial artist, he now has the opportunity to compete in front of an international audience as he tries to earn his place in the UFC.

With nearly 20 bouts to his credit, Oleksiejczuk is easily the most tenured athlete fighting on the Contender Series this week. Attaining the FEN (Fight Exclusive Night) welterweight championship, and defending it thrice, the Polish powerhouse is seeking to count himself among the top fighters from his country in the big leagues.

More Bouts On the Main Card

Rounding out the main card, Canadian standout Mandel Nallo tangos with current Cage Warriors lightweight king Samuel Silva. Then, two-time defending LFA title-holder Eduardo Henrique grapples with the hard-hitting An Tuan Ho. Finally, undefeated prospects Tommy McMillen and David Mgoyan throw down in the opening fight of the night.

Contender Series 2025: Week 4 Predictions and Staff Picks

MMASucka staff picks are composed of four of the world’s leading mixed martial arts organizations: the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), the Professional Fighters League (PFL), ONE Championship (ONE FC), and Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS).

  • UFC picks will include main card fights ranging from four to six matchups per event.
  • PFL picks from main cards for pay-per-views and from tournament fights in the Regular Season, Playoffs, and Finals.
  • ONE FC and DWCS picks will feature all MMA fights from the event with a minimum of three matchups.

The individual who picks the most victorious fighters by the end of 2025 will have a choice between receiving a custom-made championship belt from ProAmBelts or a detailed chain from Championship Chains
