From The Sunshine State of Florida, the PFL brings another exciting card packed top to bottom with a slew of hot new talent and established veterans alike in PFL 2. With the bantamweights and women’s flyweights leading the charge this time out, Marcirley Alves locks horns with the seasoned Leandro Higo, while Liz Carmouche battles Ilara Joanne.
PFL 2 Main Event
Making his company debut in the main event of the evening at PFL 2, Alves is currently riding a one-fight losing streak since dropping a unanimous decision to the unblemished Sarvarjon Khamidov. Entering 2025 with a clean slate, “Durin” can kickstart a solid run in the tournament by trouncing a well-traveled name such as Higo.
A professional competitor since 2006, Higo, much like his American adversary, has also fought in a variety of countries across the globe, such as Ireland, the United States and Hungary. Attaining a handful of victories over some of Bellator’s finest in Ricky Bandejas, James Gallagher and Darrion Caldwell, “Alter” is seeking to create another splendid legacy under a new banner in his new home in the PFL.
PFL 2 Co-Main Event
At one point in time, Carmouche was one of the top women’s flyweight athletes on the planet, having won and defended the Bellator 125-lb championship three times. Although she ended up losing her strap due to the promotion fusing with the PFL in 2024, the Californian still racked up two impressive wins over Juliana Velasquez and Kana Watanabe. However, a unanimous decision defeat to Talia Santos saw Carmouche head back to the drawing board to end the year.
Booked in her most high-profile match to date, Joanne will face the toughest challenge of her professional career against a woman who has held a major world title and retained it multiple times. Should she manage to topple the established Carmouche in PFL 2, the Brazilian could easily thrust herself into becoming a standout figure in the division.
More Bouts On the Main Card
Also on the PFL 2 main card, Francesco Nuzzi locks horns with TUF alumnus Mando Gutierrez, and Justin Wetzell tests himself opposite Kasum Kasumov.
