A new month is underway as our MMASucka staff picks continue on for the year ahead.
Dana White’s Contender Series 48 will begin in just a few hours tonight, August 2nd from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Five fights will take place at the event beginning at 8:00pm ET (5:00pm PT) live for subscribers on ESPN+.

The Fights
New York’s Charlie Campbell and Scotland’s Chris Duncan will meet in the featured main event of the night at 155 pounds. Campbell, most notably a standout from Longo and Weidman MMA, will look to secure his sixth straight victory since August of 2020. 29-year-old Duncan hopes to make the most of his second Contender Series fight after his October of 2021 fight with Viacheslav Borshchev would come by a second-round knockout defeat.
Flyweight prospects Shannon Ross and Vinicius Salvador look to fight tooth and nail in the close-pairing co-main event.

Staff Picks
Staff picks in 2022 will follow the same set of rules from the 2021 season. Throughout the calendar year, staff picks will be composed of main card fights from both UFC and Bellator events. Main card fights and selected preliminary fights will be included for PFL MMA. Dana White’s Contender Series will be composed of the entire fight card.
The WINNER of staff picks in 2022 will have a choice between receiving a custom-made championship belt from ProAmBelts or a chain from Championship Chains. A winner is determined simply by the individual correctly picking the most victorious fighters at the year’s end. Nate Freeman secured his first victory with MMASucka in 2021 with a compiled record 243-136.
