Nam Yui-Chul snubbed the UFC in view of continuing his ROAD FC career

You won’t come across too many fighters in this day and age who would turn down offers from the UFC. Well, not if you’re Nam Yui-Chul at least.

The South Korean superstar recently revealed that he had shun down an offer from the Ultimate Fighting Championship, in view of continuing his stint as ROAD FC’s reigning Lightweight champ.

Nam Yui-Chul snubbed the UFC in view of continuing his ROAD FC career

He received an offer to compete on the UFC’s January Singapore card.

It wouldn’t come as a surprise why the world’s largest MMA organization were on the hunt for Chul’s signature, given his laudable 17-4-1 record and high profile wins with notables Vuyisile Colossa, Takasuke Kume, Hacran Dias and Rob Hill among others.

Nam_Yui_Chul-hsSuffice to say, for MMA fighters, fighting in the UFC would be a dream turned reality. But for now, Chul seems content in plying his trade in his native South Korea.

“I got official offer from UFC. I wasn’t excited as much as I expected. I thought this is not a time to go to UFC,” he said, in a press release from ROAD FC. “I got many benefits from ROAD FC, recognizing as a champion and playing with much better stable conditions. Surely I don’t give up UFC but I simply broaden my horizons not focusing on short term gains.

I could play as a fighter until age 40. I’m 32 now so still 8 years to go. Nobody knows what would be happening. I will try my best under given circumstances. At this moment I try my best to fight as a Road FC fighter.”

With the UFC’s vast recruitment of Asian MMA fighters over the past month or so, they will, however, be unfortunately missing out on Nam Yui-Chul.

The 32-year-old Team Posse recruit is known for his invincible spirit, wrestling and stand-up game. He was last seen at ROAD FC 013 in October, with a Unanimous Decision victory over the aforementioned Takasuke Kume.
