UFC lightweight Nate Diaz has been inactive since his TKO victory over Gray Maynard at the TUF 18 Finale last November. The victory snapped a two fight losing skid, but also earned the Stockton bad boy ‘Knockout of the Night’ honors.

Nate Diaz requests release from UFC

In very peculiar fashion, Diaz sent a tweet to the UFC and President Dana White.

Diaz (17-9) was on a three-fight winning streak from late 2011 to mid 2012, with victories over Takanori Gomi, Donald Cerrone and Jim Miller. The wins notched Diaz a shot at lightweight champion Benson Henderson — in a hard fought five-round war, Henderson took home the unanimous decision. Diaz then followed up with a TKO loss to Josh Thomson at UFC on FOX 7.

There has been no follow up since the initial tweet from either Diaz or the Cesar Gracie camp.
