Nick Diaz ponders retirement following UFC 158 defeat to Georges St-Pierre

Nick Diaz suffered a one-sided defeat to UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and afterwards pondered the idea of retirement.

The Stocktonian has had an immediate post-fight retirement before, following his controversial defeat to Carlos Condit he told the Las Vegas crowd last year and obviously that did not stick.

Diaz struggled with the overwhelming wrestling attack of St-Pierre. While he had his moments, looking for submission holds and putting together a few punches, the bulk of the fight was controlled by the welterweight titlist who cruised to victory.

“I think I’m going to have to just kind of figure out if I want to keep doing this,” Diaz said following the defeat. “To be honest, I don’t think I’ve really got it anymore.”

Whether or not the former Strikeforce welterweight kingpin will return to the Octagon is unclear, Diaz has expressed interest in boxing full-time so that might be the next path in life for the fighter.
