A Night to Remember for Katlyn Chookagian

Katlyn Chookagian’s night on September 13, 2014 could not have gone any better. On this night, she took on Brigitte Narcise at WSOF 13. Chookagian was 7-0 as an amateur and 1-0 as a pro coming into her WSOF debut on Saturday.

Chookagian was taking on Narcise in the fourth fight on the preliminary card. The Team Renzo Gracie fighter got the biggest ovation of anyone on the preliminary card just on her walk to the cage and it would only get louder from there on.

Chookagian looked fantastic from start to finish. She displayed all aspects of her MMA game and looked good doing so. The 25-year-old was able to showoff her jiu-jitsu, footwork, cardio, and striking among others.

Early in the first round, Chookagian caught Narcise in a triangle choke and was able to land some solid elbows from her back. Narcise managed to get out and back to her feet, but things were no better there. The New Jersey native was out striking Narcise and was using her footwork to get out of the way of almost everything Narcise threw at her. Towards the end of the first round, Narcise dropped down for a leg lock, but Chookagian was able to defend it and get out of the round with it clearly being in her favor.

The second round was much more of the same. Chookagian was just being the smarter and better fighter. She was always moving and landing at will. This was just how the night would go.

In the third round, Chookagian was up on the scorecards, but was still searching for the finish, and that was exactly what she would get. At 38-seconds of the third round, Chookagian got in the clinch with Narcise and unleashed a barrage of violent knees that would end the night for her fellow New Jersey opponent. Chookagian could not have looked much better.

Immediately after her victory, she went straight into the crowd and greeted her friends and family. Chookagian was glowing and rightfully so. The flyweight’s performance was one of the best on the night and a great WSOF debut for her.
