Ole Laursen was close to a title shot, Folayang next in line

The rumor mill always churns with stories, now, doesn’t it?

This past week, Victor Cui tweeted about a Lightweight title match-up between Ole Laursen and Zorobabel Moreira. However, he deleted the tweet once the fight failed to materialize.

Apparently, reports suggested that an injury could’ve been an indicator as to why the fight didn’t go as planned. Some sources claimed that Laursen was reluctant to take the fight.

Well, reality check. None of them were true.

Earlier today, an official from ONE FC told MMASucka.com that Laursen was indeed slated to compete for the 155-lbs strap at ONE FC 6: Rise of Kings, but his management rejected the fight due to some contract issues.

“Ole Laursen didn’t reject the fight,” he said. “His management rejected it due to contractual obligations.”

In the meantime, Zorobabel Moreira is now set to contest for the 155-lbs strap against former Shooto titleholder Kotetsu Boku.

This is one of 3 title match-ups that will take place on October 6th.

As promised by ONE FC CEO Victor Cui, Eduard Folayang, who is 2-1 in his stint with the organization thus far, will be getting his title shot in the near future.

“Eduard Folayang will be getting a title shot,” a ONE FC official told MMASucka.com. “He will be facing the winner of Zoro vs. Boku.”

ONE FC 6: Rise of Kings takes place on October 6th, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.
