Phetjeeja Stuns Anissa Meksen At ONE Friday Fights 46, Janet Todd Impressed

Phetjeeja was known for her Muay Thai brutality, but at ONE Friday Fights 46, she showed that she is a complete striker. After five hard rounds, the Thai star upended Anissa Meksen to become the ONE Interim Atomweight Kickboxing World Champion. It was a breakout moment for “The Queen.”

Phetjeeja Suns in Kickboxing Masterclass at ONE Friday Fight 46

Phetjeeja pressed the action from the opening bell. She gave Meksen little room to build momentum and dictated the match’s pace. The French-Algerian would find her own success, but the power difference was evident.

Each time Phetjeeja was able to land cleanly, Meksen’s head rocked backward. The Thai star struggled to break her Muay Thai clinching habits early, but her boxing was sensational to make up for it at range. She came into her own in the championship rounds and continued her constant offensive output.

After five rounds, Meksen knew the result and was gracious in defeat. “The Queen” got her first taste of gold on the global stage in her first kickboxing battle. Her ability to acclimate to the sport right away was perhaps even more impressive than the result.

The bout sets up a unification bout with ONE Atomweight Kickboxing World Champion Janet Todd. And she was impressed with Phetjeeja as well. “That was a great fight! Phetjeeja had good movement against Anissa,” Todd told ONE Championship.

The title victory was the 21-year-old’s fifth win on the global stage in 2023. With a perfect first year in the promotion, capped off with a massive championship win, “The Queen” is off to a great start in building an enduring legacy. She has all the tools to become one of the most accomplished strikers of all time.

It was a memorable night with one of the year’s best events. ONE Friday Fights 46 can be relived at watch.onefc.com. The global pay-per-view is available on-demand and costs $39.99
