A light heavyweight bout between Phil Davis and Glover Teixeira has been set as the co-main event at UFC 179 in Brazil.
UFC officials announced the match-up on Saturday.
Phil Davis and Glover Teixeira set for UFC 179 co-main event
Davis (12-2, 1NC) after winning three-in-a-row and possibly the biggest victory of his career against Lyoto Machida at UFC 163, most recently Davis lost a unanimous decision to Anthony “Rumble” Johnson.
Teixeira (22-3) is coming off his first loss in almost eight-years, when he fell short on the judges scorecards against Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones at UFC 172.
UFC 179 goes down on October 25 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Headlining the event is a rematch for the featherweight championship between Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes.
