Pitbull vs. Curran featherweight title fight set for Bellator

Two of the best featherweights on the planet are set to do battle on August 24 in the Bellator summer series finale when Pat Curran’s maiden title defense is against Brazilian power-puncher Patricio “Pitbull” Freire.

Freire won the season four 145-pound tournament on his second attempt and was scheduled to face Joe Warren in their much anticipated rematch for all the marbles at featherweight but a broken hand stopped that notion.

Curran jumped ahead of the Brazilian in the queue when he won the season five series and got his shot at Warren scoring a highlight-reel knockout to win the biggest fight of his career.

When the Chicago-based organization’s circular cage closes behind them “Pitbull” will have been away from the cage for 15 months but finally he gets his chance to fight for the title.

My advice: don’t blink during this one folks.
