Prochazka, Hill Trade Barbs Over Ankalaev

While Jiri Prochazka (30-5-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) just had his upcoming fight versus No. 3  contender Jamahal Hill (12-2, 1 NC MMA, 6-2, 1 NC UFC) announced last weekend during UFC Macau’s post-fight coverage, the No. 2 contender at 205 lbs. wasted little time in developing bulletin board material ahead of the Hall fight.

Tuesday afternoon, Prochazka spoke his mind on X.

Prochazka Opens Up About Jamahal Hill’s Last Contest and Dishes on Ankalaev

“Hello, time to say something after [a] long time,” began Prochazka in his video message. “I’m really looking forward for my next fight, and Jamahal, don’t speak about my performance, fight IQ and all these things because in your last fight, you didn’t show nothing. Really.”

He also got in some shots aimed at No. 1 contender Magomed Ankalaev (20-1-1, 1 NC MMA, 11-1-1, 1 NC UFC) on social media Tuesday. Ankalaev most recently stepped inside the famed UFC Octagon about a month ago, during UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, winning by way of unanimous decision after three rounds of action over No. 5 contender Aleksandr Rakic (14-5 MMA, 6-4 UFC).

“This same guy, Ankalaev, in your last three fights, you showed totally nothing,” he continued. “So stay on the ground.”

Magomed Ankalaev has yet to face Jiri Prochazka in the UFC in the five years since the latter fighter joined the promotion. Even though Prochazka isn’t too enthused about a fight against Ankalaev at the present time, this would be an amazing contest to watch at a later date, given that these two men are right next to each other in the UFC light heavyweight rankings.

Hill Gets On Offensive Against Ankalaev

Both Hill and Prochazka are interested in seeing Ankalaev falter in the cage. Recently, Hill, who was last seen in action this past spring during UFC 300’s headlining contest in a failed title bid versus Alex Pereira (12-2 MMA, 9-1 UFC) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas,  delivered a fiery monologue on Inside Fighting’s YouTube channel against Magomed Ankalaev.

“I want to knock Magomed out in his own, too, just because to me, he’s a (redacted) and he talks like a (censored) and he acts like a (redacted), you know what I’m saying?” Hill began. “I really don’t [mess] with him, at all, so (bleep) him. I would love nothing more than to put his ass to sleep.”

During that same interview, he discussed how his rivalry with Ankalaev began.

“I’m not even talking to this weirdo and he’s coming and trying to take shots at me because he’s so lame,” Hill recalls. “He sees that the fanbase kind of has a thing for me, so he kind of tries to ride that wave. Him and a couple other people try to do that, but he’s the cheesiest one that does it.”

Thoughts on Prochazka vs. Hill

Given Jiri Prochazka’s recent remarks on social media, the night of Jan. 18, 2025 cannot come soon enough. Prochazka fired the first salvo in this war of words against his upcoming opponent on Tuesday afternoon. Once Jamahal Hill gives his retort, the countdown to the fight will truly be on.

What happens between now and the time that the cage door closes for the UFC 311 co-main event is anybody’s guess, but the stage is starting to be set for Prochazka vs. Hill during the third weekend in January. Depending upon the outcome of the Jan. 18 fight, we could be looking at a fight between Prochazka and Ankalaev.

Only time will tell if that is to be the case.
