Yet another Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) champion has signed with the UFC.
RFA Lightweight Champion Christos Giagos has signed with the UFC and is set to make his debut with the promotion against Gilbert Burns, who has moved down to 155-pounds since his last bout, at UFC 179 in October.
This was first reported by Combate, but has yet to be confirmed by the UFC.
Christos Giagos (10-2) is currently riding a 4-fight winning streak, and he most recently picked up a win over Dakota Cochrane in the main event of RFA 17, where he won the RFA lightweight belt. Prior to that, he finished Sevak Magakian for the Tachi PF title in June of this year. He is looking for his fourth win in 2014 and fifth straight against Burns in Brazil.
Burns (8-0) made his UFC debut at UFC on FOX 12 in July in the welterweight division where he defeated Andreas Stahl by unanimous decision. He will be looking to stay undefeated against Giagos and pick his third win in 2014.
UFC 179 takes place at the Maracanazinho gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on October 25. The event is headlined by the highly anticipated rematch between featherweight champ Jose Aldo taking on the #1 ranked 145 pounder, Chad Mendes. UFC 179 will be live on pay-per-view with preliminary bouts airing live on FOX Sports 1 and streaming on UFC Fight Pass.
